Muse - Madness

Watch the official music video for “Madness” by Muse, the lead single from their landmark 2012 album The 2nd Law. Built around a pulsating synth-bass loop and a soaring vocal climax, “Madness” is a vulnerable, slow-burning anthem exploring the chaotic realization of love after a personal conflict. Featuring Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard, the song pushed Muse into bold electronic and R&B-infused rock territories. Its cinematic music video, directed by Anthony Mandler, is set inside a moody, futuristic subway station where a romantic struggle unfolds amidst a riot control squad, bringing the track’s atmospheric tension and emotional resolution to life. Released as a single in 2012, “Madness” became a massive commercial and critical success, spending an unprecedented 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song. The song remains one of Muse’s signature recordings, alongside alternative rock classics like “Uprising,” “Supermassive Black Hole,” “Starlight,” “Knights of Cydonia,” and “Time Is Running Out.” The 2nd Law marked an ambitious sonic leap for Muse, incorporating elements of electronic, dubstep, orchestral, and funk music. Featuring hit singles like “Panic Station,” “Supremacy,” and “Follow Me,” the album debuted at No. 1 in countries worldwide and cemented Muse's reputation as one of modern rock's most innovative arena acts. Unravelling. Out now. #Muse
